Stomach cancer is a very serious condition. Symptoms usually arise later due to the large capacity of the stomach and often the tumor is not curable at the time of diagnosis. It is for this reason that the mortality rate for patients diagnosed with stomach cancer is exceedingly high.

Acid-suppressing medication. This kind of stomach ulcer treatment used a particular class of drugs that you should take for four to eight weeks. Its main purpose is to reduce the acids produced by the stomach. This class of drugs works on the protective cells of stomach's lining and ulcers usually heal as the amount of acids significantly reduces.

Only breath tests or endoscopy with biopsy can be used to prove that the bacterium has been eradicated.

Helicobacter pylori infection: This infection of the stomach is fairly rare in the US, but can be found among many people in other countries, including Eastern Europe. Many doctors believe that long term infection with this bacteria is a major contributor to development of stomach cancer. The infection usually leads to chronic gastritis and makes changes to the lining of the stomach, which can cause cancer.

Betaine and pepsin hydrochloride, as well as other stomach acidifiers like glutamic acid and stomach bitters, dissolve Candida and fungi in the stomach. Antacids and acid-suppressing drugs like cimetidine and ranitidine lead to fungal infections because they eliminate the fungal-protective effect of hydrochloric acid.

When stomach cancer is diagnosed early and thought to be cured by surgery, a careful search for Helicobacter pylori should also be made. When the bacteria is not found in the stomach by biopsy, a serological blood test should also be obtained. If evidence of Helicobacter pylori infection is found, intensive antibiotic therapy should be given and treatment success proved by endoscopy or breath test.

Stomach acid is absolutely essential for digesting protein and for the absorption of vitamins and trace minerals. Most people who benefit from bitters have a problem with low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria). Some authorities claim that about half the population of North America is hypochlorhydric.

Often times, a diet program is suggested to the patient, which is mostly comprised of fresh vegetables and complex carbohydrates. Dietary supplements that contain digestive enzymes and probiotic supplements are also recommended by some doctors to help strengthen the stomach and protect it against bad bacteria.
